KENTING

Kenting is a small town at the southern most tip of Taiwan. Surfing, snorkeling, seafood and sun year round.

We inadvertently spent New Years Eve here (not much sleep was had). It was a pleasant surprise to see that although the people on the beach stayed up all night letting off fireworks , there was none of the drunken ick that happens around NZ at this time of year.

There was certainly some very interesting architecture to behold. All the hotels were full for NYE, we stayed at the hot pink Seafood Hotel. I wouldn't recommend it.

After lunch we rented bikes that were too small, and did not have working gears. It was quite nice to ride around though, I got a distinct Riversdale rural beach vibe.

Most Taiwanese "hotels" (I use quotation marks because it is not what we'd call them) offer complimentary breakfast. This is a pretty typical spread. I popped down to the reception in the morning to pick up a plastic bag with our room number on it. Milk tea, and tuna, ham and egg sandwiches.
