Sticky glutinous rice studded with Chinese dates and covered in liquid honey... Similar in texture to a zongzi, this stuff is awesome. One of the Muslim influenced food additions to be found in Lanzhou.
Note the plastic bag covered plate it is served on. Kind of weird to eat off, but totally practical. Lots of food comes like that which originally appalled me but I'm getting used to it. No dishwasher required and if you can't eat it all in one sitting (I was nowhere close) you can wrap it up in the bag and take it on your way.
Sold by weight, a piece is hacked from an enormous cake like this one. I would love to watch them make this.
