In Hue we also had dinner in a local Vietnamese household. Their altar, just inside the doorway was spectacular, as was the food! The stand out for me was the pumpkin and peanut soup that tasted like pumpkin flavoured peanut sauce. I also love the heaping of fresh herbs on every plate.
A single woman cooked for all 11 of us while her mother in law kept us company at the table. No doubt it is a great little earner for them, besides the husband's barber shop and the wife's coffee shop at the front of the house! These people are nothing if not enterprising.
